New Challenges for Suburban Schools

For decades, big-city school districts have had to deal with issues like concentrated poverty and kids who don’t know English. Now those urban issues are increasingly showing up in suburban schools. This is placing cultural, academic and financial demands on districts that at one time catered to mostly white, middle class kids.
